The New Self In Jesus Christ: Ephesians 4:1-2, 32
Doing God’s work (God’s command): Believe in God the Father’s son Jesus Christ the Son of God 1John 3:23
Living worthy of your call:4:2-3
1. Live with “Humility, gentleness, and patience bearing with one another in love making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:2-3
Living as your new self:
2. “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another as God also forgave you in Christ” Ephesians 4:32 Colossians 3:12-17
Light vs Darkness
- “Therefore be imitators of God, as dearly loved children, and walk in love, as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God” Ephesians 5:1-2
- Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for God’s wrath is coming on the disobedient because of these things. Therefore, do not become their partners.” Ephesians 5:6-7 (refer back to Ephesians 5:5)
- “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light for the fruit of light consists of all goodness, righteousness, and truth testing what is pleasing to the Lord”. Ephesians 5:8-10 (Refer to Matthew 5:14-16, John 12:36) Note-Jesus is the light
- “Don’t participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful to even mention what is done by them in secret. Everything exposed by the light is made visible, for what makes everything visible is light. Therefore it is said: Get up, sleeper, and rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Ephesians 5:11-14 (Refer to Luke 8:17)
- Consistency in the Christian Life
- “Pay careful attention, then, to how you live not as unwise people but as wise making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So don’t be foolish but understand what the Lord’s will is.” Ephesians 5:15-17 (refer to Matthew 7:21, Proverbs, James 1:5)
Christian Marriage between Man and Woman
- 2. “Wives submit to your husbands as to the Lord, because the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of the body. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives are to submit their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her to make her holy cleansing her with the washing of water by the word. In the same way, husbands are to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. To sum up, each one of you is to love his wife as himself, and the wife is to respect her husband. Ephesians 5:22-26, 28,33 (Refer to Genesis 2:18. Matthew 19:4-6, Colossians 18-19,Mark 10-6-9, 1 Corinthians 7:1-40, Luke 16:18, 1Peter 3:7)

Living at Peace with others
“Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest (hate) what is evil cling to what is good. Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not lack diligence in zeal; be fervent in the Spirit; serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer. Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud; instead associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Give careful thought to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes.”
“If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Friends do not avenge yourselves; instead leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. But if your enemy is hungry feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in doing so you will be heaping fiery coals on his head. Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good. Romans 12:9-21 (Refer to Matthew 5:43-48; Matthew 5:38-41 Luke 6:27-36, 1Peter 3:9)
